Welcome to Leiden

We have the pleasure of inviting you to the 15th Congress of the European Union for School and University Health and Medicine, which will be held in Leiden, The Netherlands, from September 23 to September 25, 2009.
The organization of this Congress will be a joint venture between the Dutch and the Flemish associations of Youth Health Care.

The biennial sequence of EUSUHM Congresses was started in 1981 in Amsterdam followed by Dubrovnik, Budapest, Prague, Paris, Turku, Leipzig, York, Leuven, Trondheim, Budapest, Ljubljana, Dubrovnik and Tampere. These Congresses have the aim of bringing together professionals providing population-based health care for children and adolescents, with the emphasis on the relevant setting related to their stage of life.

How can we guarantee equal access to care (in the broadest sense) for all children and young people, irrespective of their diverse social and cultural backgrounds?
How can we organize and maintain continuous preventive health care from birth to adolescence in the European Region?
How can we make the most of new and promising scientific and professional developments to achieve more effective Youth Health Care in the future?

These questions will form the basis of the 15th EUSUHM Congress. Your ideas and professional experience will help us to address these challenges.

We look forward to meeting you in Leiden.

Yours sincerely,

Elise Buiting,
President of the Dutch Association of Youth Health Care

Karel Hoppenbrouwers,
Katholieke Universiteit Leuven,
President of the Flemish Association of Youth Health Care
